"Ridgeview's staff know what they're doing. You can't manipulate people who've seen it all, year after year.
Some of them have been through recovery themselves, so they know every trick in the book.
They understand what it's like - and they give you straight talk." - former patient

Safe Drug Use for the Recovering Addict or Alcoholic

Because addiction is chronic, it does not get better on its own. It will keep happening until the addict not only stops using the substance, but re-learns how to live.

Because addiction is progressive, it gets worse over time. Most often, by the time the person finally seeks treatment, he or she is addicted to more than one substance or behavior.

Because addiction is a primary illness, if left untreated it continues to impact all aspects of ones life: physical, emotional and spiritual.

Ridgeview treats the addiction itself, the individual addicted person, and the persons family.

For someone with an addiction, withdrawal can be difficult. A person admitted for detoxification may need inpatient treatment care, with round-the-clock medical supervision; or may require partial hospitalization or day treatment.

All of the therapies available on an inpatient, partial, or intensive outpatient basis, depending on the patients needs work together to treat the disease of addiction and to cultivate strategies that can lead to a manageable, addiction-free life. The treatment team helps patients address issues related to their addiction, manage cravings, learn tools for recovery, and develop healthier relationships with others.

Based upon clinical recommendations, patients in the partial hospitalization program may return home each night or may live in the Recovery Residence on the Ridgeview campus. Those participating in the intensive outpatient program are often able to continue their participation in work or school while in treatment.

Dual diagnosis

This track is designed for patients who have a psychiatric disorder co-occurring with an addiction. Ridgeview provides treatment and tools for the patient to work toward recovery from addiction, as well as to manage the psychiatric illness.

Relapse prevention

Some patients, despite previous treatment, are unable to maintain recovery. For these people we have a special track, combining experiential group therapy, education about relapse warning signs, prevention planning, and 12-step recovery programs. Patients take a deeper look
at the underlying causes of their addiction: emotional problems, family-of-origin issues, anger, shame, and low self-esteem.
