Ridgeview Institute Celebrates World Mental Health Day
World Mental Health Day is Thursday, October 10th. With this in mind, we at Ridgeview Institute want to discuss the need for mental health treatment by focusing on how important being there for someone is, and being an ally to those who are seeking help.
Suicidal thoughts can affect people of all ages and from all walks of life. Every 40 seconds, someone loses their life to suicide. Suicide is the second leading cause of death among 15-29-year-olds globally. These are individuals who are in the primes of their lives, and they are being tragically cut short. It is important to stress how horrible this truly is, but it should also empower us to be an ally to those in our lives who are struggling. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is a wonderful organization that seeks to help prevent suicide. They offer free, confidential, 24/7 support to ANYONE who is in distress, and will work with you or a loved one to ensure that help is provided. Their phone number is 1 800-273-8255, and we at Ridgeview Institute implore you to seek help if needed. Be an ally to those you love, it takes a minute to check on someone you care about, and it can mean the world to someone who is suffering.
