The Women’s Center for Trauma and Eating Disorders at Ridgeview Institute Smyrna is a clinically integrated treatment program for young adult and adult women suffering from unresolved trauma, eating disorders, addiction, and related conditions.
We offer three levels of care: inpatient, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient.
Our program is for young adults and adult women struggling with severe eating disorders, mood disorders, substance use disorders and anxiety. Patient ages range from 18 years old to 75 years old.
The Eating Disorders Program provides treatment for those struggling with severe behaviors associated with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorders.
We integrate a variety of clinical and didactic approaches to address eating disorders in a comprehensive and individualized manner.
Inpatient treatment provides 24 hour nursing care and is to help patients stabilize body weight, develop healthy eating patterns, identify and begin to heal the emotional issues that trigger symptoms, and develop the coping skills needed to prevent relapse.
Our partial hospitalization program offers a full treatment day of experiential and expressive therapies, as well as one supervised meal daily. Patients may live at home or reside in the Women’s Recovery Residence for added support and structure.
The intensive outpatient program offers flexible scheduling for patients in school or working, as well as those stepping down from a more intensive level of care.
Patients may enter treatment at any level or transition through the levels, depending upon individual need.
Our program is for young adult and adult women struggling with trauma related disorders, mood disorders, substance use disorders and anxiety. Patient ages range from 18 years old to 75 years old.
Treatment at the Women’s Center emphasizes core dynamics within stabilization and encourages clients to engage in therapeutic interventions associated with effective neuroscience and attachment, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy, family dynamics, and experiential groups.
Family therapy is an integral part of the stabilization process.
Patients and their families have family therapy sessions with their primary therapist, nutritional education with the dietitian, and multi-family education groups.

The treatment team works closely with each patient to create a plan that will continue to work for the patient after she has left the program. We work to set realistic goals during treatment, continue communication with outpatient therapists, physicians, and school counselors as needed, and establish outpatient contacts and appointments prior to discharge.
We also assist patients and their families in locating appropriate 12-step meetings, support groups, and other needed treatment or supportive services in their communities.
Patients who successfully complete treatment will be invited to continue in our Aftercare Program. Additionally, our active Women’s Alumni Association provides continuing support and fellowship for women following discharge.
