The Women’s Program at Ridgeview Institute Smyrna is a program designed exclusively for young adult and adult women (18+) to address their special issues and needs in a safe, therapeutic environment. The goal of the program is to provide high quality therapeutic services to assist women in dealing with issues such as trauma, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, familial, professional and personal stress, grief and loss, substance use/abuse and disordered eating symptoms.
Treatment is accomplished through active clinical programming that is offered 7 days a week for inpatients. Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) as well as Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT) and other evidence-based practices are provided throughout the programming day. Modalities include group therapy, psycho-educational skill groups, activity therapy, family therapy and 12 Step treatment.
We offer three levels of care: inpatient, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient.
Inpatient treatment provides 24 hour nursing care and is to help patients stabilize medically and behaviorally any unsafe, unhealthy patterns and behaviors. At this level of care they can identify and begin to heal the emotional issues that trigger symptoms, and develop the coping skills needed to prevent relapse. Our partial hospitalization program offers a full treatment day of continued therapies. Patients may live at home or reside in the Women’s Recovery Residence for added support and structure. The intensive outpatient program offers flexible scheduling for patients in school or working, as well as those stepping down from a more intensive level of care. Patients may enter treatment at any level or transition through the levels, depending upon individual need.
Every patient is unique and the treatment plan reflects that uniqueness. An individualized treatment plan is developed utilizing the identified problems following the initial assessment. Strengths and limitations are taken into consideration, specific goals and objectives are set and the plan in an ongoing collaborative guide for the patient with their treatment team, including their psychiatrist, therapist, registered nurse and other allied staff.
Family therapy is an integral part of the stabilization process.
Patients and their families have family therapy sessions with their primary therapist, and multi-family education groups.

The treatment team works closely with each patient to create a plan that will continue to work for the patient after she has left the program. We work to set realistic goals during treatment, continue communication with outpatient therapists, physicians, and counselors as needed, and establish outpatient contacts and appointments prior to discharge. We also assist patients and their families in locating appropriate 12-step meetings, support groups, and other needed treatment or supportive services in their communities. Patients who successfully complete treatment will be invited to continue in our Aftercare Program. Additionally, our active Women’s Alumni Association provides continuing support and fellowship for women following discharge.
