GEORGIA'S FIRST CHOICE IN MENTAL HEALTH AND ADDICTION TREATMENT FOR OVER 40 YEARS
At Ridgeview Institute
Ridgeview Institute offers Young Adult Addiction Services in Smyrna, GA.
Our Young Adult Psychiatric treats patients ages 18 – 26 experiencing psychiatric disorders. Whether this is the first time a young adult is experiencing a psychiatric disorder or has a history of prior treatment, there is great benefit for the young adult to be treated within a group of peers as they share similar age-related life stressors.
Our staff works closely with our young adult patients and their families to teach coping skills for managing illness and the importance of ongoing therapy and support as they move forward in life. Treatment at Ridgeview Institute includes an individualized treatment plan, group therapy, community meetings, access to Emotions Anonymous meetings daily, psycho-educational groups and lectures on disease management and age appropriate life skills. The Medical Director, Dr. Steven Lee, also provides education on the basics of psychiatric illness and the importance of medication management to patients and families. Family involvement and support is important in the care of the young adult patient, through participation in family therapy, multi-family groups and Family Workshop. Families are also an integral part of discharge planning for the next step of care and success in maintaining stability and growth.
This track is designed for patients who have a psychiatric disorder co-occurring with an addiction. Ridgeview addresses both problems, providing treatment and tools to help the patient simultaneously work toward recovery from addiction and manage the psychiatric illness.
Young Adult Addiction Services offers a well-integrated continuum of care for young adults ages 18-26 with addiction or dual diagnosis disorders.
Ridgeview Institute Smyrna’s program offers a broad spectrum of specialty groups and services, and the 12-step programs of recovery. This unique approach addresses addiction and its associated problems in a comprehensive, yet individualized manner.
The goal of treatment is to help patients learn how to cope with life free from addiction.
Family education and treatment are key components of Ridgeview’s programs and are particularly important in treating the young adult. Clinicians provide a wide range of services, including family therapy and multi-family support groups. A family workshop is available monthly for patients and family members of young adults currently in treatment.
Partial hospitalization is the primary level of care for Young Adult Services. Those needing inpatient detoxification will start treatment on our inpatient adult unit and step down to partial hospitalization and recovery residence once medically stable.
Separate male and female residences located on our campus are staff monitored and offer additional support, structure and community for young adult patients entering treatment. Residents participate in a variety of community activities, 12-step meetings and group outings.
The environment enables patients to bond, learn to assume responsibilities among their peers, and deepen in their own recovery.
The treatment team works closely with each patient to set realistic goals for recovery and to develop a continuing care plan to solidify the gains made in treatment.
We provide free weekly support and aftercare groups specifically for young adults after successful completion of the program.
We also assist patients and their families who need referral for additional treatment or support services in their home communities, including linking young adults with sober alumni in the community through speaker meetings and rideshare programs to approved young adult meetings.
Ridgeview offers free assessments 24/7. Call Toll Free (844) 350-8800. Counselors are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
